There are many different ways that movies are distributed to the audience. Movies are mainly introduced to the public via trailers and posters but this depends what time of the year it is. This means people atre more liely to spot the trailers on TV during winter time this is because they watch TV more TV and stay indoors because of the weather. However during summertime more people are out and posters are seen on the bustops, buses, taxis and billboards.
Also some cineams do screenings of the movie which gives the opportunity to the people to go and view the movie and give their opinion about it.
It is important for the people who distrubute the movie to be aware of the fact that audience have the power when it comes to judging the movie therefore in order to succeed they need to attraqct their audience in the best possible way. Also the audience might be encouraged to go and see particular movie after seeing some famous Holywood actors in the movie so they will be more likely to go and see it because of it.
When talking about producing the movie there are different institutions such as Universal which can be involved with the movie this also links with the distribution because Universal is a well known big succesful comapny which produced movie such as: four weddings and a fubneral,the boat that rocked, and love actually. The audience might want to decide to see the movie because of this. This also depends on the box office in other words how much money the movie has made. This shows how succesful it turned out to be.
Megafranchise plays a big part to the movie as well. The movie is more likely to be popular once gadgets such as mugs, computer games, mascots, and posters come up. This helps the movie to get popular. For example with Harry Potter the book came out and it was a huge success along with all the gadgets such as toys, games espeacially the movie was a huge hit this made the audience to go and watch it in the cinemas. After few months the DVD came out and it made even more money at the box office because everyone wanted to have their own copy and watching it again.

Prime Evil
Representation of gender
The extract was screened four times. It opens up with a woman and a man standing opposite each other the rule of 180 degree was used because they were looking at each other while talking. The over the shoulder shot was used to concentrate on the woman who was talking to the man. She seemed emotional and she had tears in her eyes. The connotation of that could be that it is a stereotypical for women to get emotional very easily over things and show it. When the women walks away to her car the camera pans at two people sitting down and one of them responded to woman's action by telling the other man to leave her alone so she can calm down. This show how men are typical and the connotation of this might be that they think women over react to certain things.
The camera cuts from one scene to another where we see a woman in the machine controlling it, it is a typical blond young lady which we can see by the medium close up however she is not seemed as one. In this scene the woman is not seemed as stereotypical because she does the man's job and also this might suggest she is strong and independent.
During this scene we can see a male character all in mud walking past the girl in the machine carrying some wood in his hands it is a medium shot.
A close up on the hand in in the ground and straight away we can see how the male character responses to it his eyes wide open looking rather scared and shocked he uses his body language to alert the female to stop the machine so he can take a closer look at it.
All of the sudden we see a huge animal in this scene attacking the male the female character Abbey takes control which is not a stereotypical and she attracts the animal's attention. This shows how she is fearless and is not scared of anything and the connotation of this could be how women are getting more independent now days and how they start to wear the trousers in the whole process rather than allowing the man to do everything. There is non diegetic and diegetic sound used this is when the music gets louder and louder to alert the audience of the danger that the characters are in. Also the diegetic sound was used which was the sound of the animal showing his frustration towards the characters. The camera rotates/pans during the fight between the animal and the woman. This is to show how the animal is jumping from one place to another and attacks the human. The camera then focuses on the male character and the medium long shot is used who tries to save the date (hero) by calling the animal over so it can leave the girl alone and he can deal with it. She didn't save the day and the connotation of this might be that she is not as strong as we pictured her to be and maybe there is something stereotypical about her after all.
The animal follows the male character who runs towards the tree. The high angle is used from the male character's point of view. For example while on the tree to show he has the power over the animal which is on the ground attacking him.
The cut jump is used of the male climbing the rope and suddenly in the next shot he is all ready half way. This shows how editing is used to speed things up and have the audience focusing on whats really important rather than worrying about him going up there slow or fast. The continuity shot was used when the male character slides down the trope attached to two ends of the trees so he can get across to the other end to escape from the monster. Also the connotation of this shot might be that the audience focuse on the man and observe him to see how brave he is.
The next scene takes place when we see few people walking at first we only see few male characters including a guy who wears a pink top and a hat , the connotation of this might be that he is homosexual and other people walking along with him are his team groups. We see the blond woman walking last and the camera only shows her after all the male characters are shown this might suggest that men are taking over the control and are overpowering over women.
Also another example of this is when men are talking and seems like they know a lot about the hidden hand in the ground whereas the lady is not talking a lot. Role of the Producer
The producer has a big responsibility to make sure that everything is going according to the plan , they have to design the call sheets and make sure they are designed properly so everyone knows what they need to do and where they need to be at certain times. Also the producer needs to make sure everyone is on time in the place where the filming takes place. The producer also designs the budget which they have to stick with in order to produce a movie. They also distribute the movie and report to the production company or to the executive producers. They turn the ideas into the story in order to produce something which they consider as success.
Hotel Babylon
Representation of ethnicity: The ethnicity was represented in many different ways and different races were shown. Asian male was shown and we could tell he comes from that background because oh his accent which we heard in the dialogue while talking to the british male. There was also other different races who were illegal immigrants and were kept away in the basement in the hotel so no one sees them.
Editing:the editing plays a big part to create a meaning and in this extract few fast cuts were used in actions to make the audience feel the pressure the characters were in at that time. Lighting was bright , natural however in the hiding place there was light used to make the place bright so the audience could see the characters faces.
Camera shots/angles:180 degree rule was used at the beginning of the extract where the police man / detective walked in and spoke to the receptionist showing her his ID. we could see that the lady was nervous and looked suspitious but she didn't show it and kept her face straight to remain calm.
A close up on asian man's face showing his face expression while talking to the british male was shown. The asian character was a security guard which is a typical job for an asian man. He looked like he wanted to avoid the conversation with the other character and he changed the topic. he looked uncomfortable and we could tell this by the look on his face. This could tell the audience a bit more about the asian character and might have something to do with him later on in the scene.
Sound:there was a non diegetic sound used.

My Targets
We have been asked to come up with three SMART targets that we think are going to help us with our preparation for the exam.
Target 1: To use more media terminology in the essays i write and also in the exam which is very important.

Notes on 'Life on Mars'
On thursday's lesson we looked at the clip called 'Life on Mars'. The first time we have seen it we were asked to watch it without making any notes but just to get some ideas about the clip. The purpose of this is to prepare us for the exam. We have seen it about four times in total.
These are the things we had to look at while watching the clip:
The second time we see the character in different situation this time the camera rotates 360 degrease around the character and the place he is in. This is because the audience can see he is in totally different place than he was before and the clothes he is wearing are very different than he had on before. (the first time we saw him) The costume the character is wearing can be clearly discovered it belongs to 70's and the setting around the character such as cars and civilisation gives it away to the audience who can compare the times he was in before and the times he is in currently in this scene.
The sound used in that scene starts with non diegetic which is the music in the background while the camera rotates around the character in 360 degrease because the character cannot hear it however it turns into diegetic when the character picks him self up from the ground and walks towards the car where the music is getting louder while the character moves closer. The music played in that scene is from 70's and its played from the casset player which is inside the car. This automatically shows the audience that the character has moved back in time which helps the audience to understand the story line and from the music we can tell what are the times the character is in.
Another scene which takes place in the police station clearly shows what is going on even tho the character is confused because of the changes and the times. The setting of the station shows that the times are different because there are no computers in the office, the sound of the telephone ringing is very old. Also people smoking inside the room shows that the rules were not introduced to them yet about smoking in the building.The office is full of men which shows that women were at home taking care of the kids while men were working to earn money , now days this is very different which shows a lot have changed since then. At that time male were a dominant gender therefore women were housewives.

Synergy
Synergy is when two or more faces work together to produce a result not obtainable by any of the agents independently.

Synergy works when different elements with media conglomarete products. AOL and Warner Brothers merged in 2000 in order to create the soudtrack for the megafranchise Harry Pottter.
